Anna Verhamme is a creative and inspiring senior HE leader with skills, understanding and experience in a variety of HE settings.
Anna has over twenty years’ experience supporting higher education both as a leader of University-wide specialist functions and of Academic Departments.
Anna has led transformational change, is a creative and intuitive thinker as well as hands-on organiser. She has strategically realigned central professional services, led a University transition from a School to College structure, developed and reshaped professional services in academic departments, and delivered digital transformation in online services and management information services.
Anna’s recent projects include external independent reviews of international projects for the University of Aberdeen’s Court and the University of Aberystwyth’s senior management team, the OfS registration for a number of small specialist provider based in London and the development and implementation of a strategic planning process.

Aberystwyth University commissioned a piece of analytical work on a University educational project, with a report on the outcomes and recommendations for future institutional learning. The report was completed with thoroughness and attention to detail and it demonstrated an acute understanding of the intricacies of the project. In the autumn of 2020 SOAS identified a need to introduce an annual process to develop 3 year operating plans to support the development of a new institutional vision and strategy. Anna joined us to support the process and caried the process through to a successful conclusion. Anna’s technical skills and wealth of experience were complemented by a flexible approach and great interpersonal skills, which enabled us to build support for the process, in spite of the impact of the pandemic. I am confident that the process is robust and sustainable and will be of great benefit to SOAS in future years.
Alongside obvious expertise in HE it was the humanity and care for our team to guide us in a way that was right for us and not just a carbon copy of every other organisation you work with. Regular check ins meant we all kept to time and everyone knew what was happening and when. Your patience and understanding of our internal staff pressures and lack of resources were, and still are, hugely appreciated.
